Shabby Chic Card

Another post from me today & am so glad I made it in time for the Lets Get Trendy Now!3 - Day 4 - Stitching. Never done stitching in my cards/LO earlier so I definitely wanted to attempt this. This is also my last card for the series & I genuinely thank - Julie, Amy, Yvonne for their efforts in compiling this series to inspire us all! Had it not been for this I would never have made a card with neons & stitching.

Coming to my card................its a shabby chic style. The base is a kraft CS & DP used is from DCWV - distressed in vintage photo ink & also a distressing tool. The cage is heat embossed in gold. I have stamped the sentiment FLY HIGH on distressed burlap..........perfect for the LO of the card.

The bird is also distressed & then heat embossed in clear EP (well its not a diecut, but I have stamped the image on the wrong side of the DP & then fussy cut!!!).
Now coming to the stitching, its the black line you see along the small birds of the DP so that it appears like a branch (does it???)

Two Sunflower Cards

A very good Sunday Morning to all!
Will make a very quick short post for this card which I made for the Lulupu - Lady Stamp-A-Lot Challenge.

I used a BUILD A SUNFLOWER SET from Do Crafts.

In the first card I have heat embossed the sunflower to create a BG on a DP, distressed along all the sides in vintage photo. I also randomly stamped tiny sunflowers in the BG.

The second card too has a sunflower but this one is paper pieced - heat embossed & distressed with mustard seed & spiced marmalade inks. The card stock from Itsy Bitsy is embossed (Itsy Bitsy folder - spots). I loved the outcome of embossing! Added a piece of thai natural fibre, bordered with red raffia & the sunflower...................the solitary sunflower stands so beautifully against the BG.

A Flower Pot Card

Good Morning All!!
Sometime back Hussena had made a gorgeous flower pot card, inspired by her I always wanted to give it a try & today I did!
Used brown handmade paper as the base for the pot, the border is punched with EK success punch. Added burlap distressed with vintage photo, over it to lend some texture
Here's my attempt at this card.

The blooms are die cuts from a Itsy Bitsy pack - distressed the flowers in four sizes with spiced marmalade & layered them over, glued a bluish flower sequin in the center.......

The card has a beautiful tag inside..................for this BG I stamped the flourish with versamark ink, embossed in white & then distressed - some sequins, crochet lace & burlap finished the tag. Was unable to capture the beauty of the blooms in this pic...........................in real they are simply gorgeous!

A band embellished with pretty sequins & lace along with flowers holds the tag in the pot.

A Bright Card

Another card from me today , I have attempted to add lots of layers here.
The base of the card is a black CS overlaid with DP (DCWV mattstack - pretty poisies). Heat embossed the flowers with clear embossing powder, distressed over it with spiced marmalade & stamped the text.

Layered the bottom with torn embossed paper, the edge is again distressed. Added washi tape & red florist mat (picked this at a florist.............that's what they call it). Also used raffia to highlight the washi tape

The little birdie, a love charm  & some rub ons completed the card. Also added some glossy accents over the EP to render a shine. I really liked the BG & though bright the colors feel fresh.
Take a look at the details

A NEON Card

I made this card for the Let's Get Trendy 3 - Day 1 - NEONS. Used a DP (DCWV - pocket poisies mattstack pack)
to overlay on black CS. The crochet lace is from Itsy Bitsy. The pendant used to embellish is colored woth distress paints (tarnished brass & salty ocean)

A Girly Layout

Good Morning!!
Made a very girly layout in pretty pink for my girls & their cousins - an all girls gang of five aged between 11 & 17 years. All they do when they are together is giggle, talk in murmurs lest the mothers (my sis, sister-in-law & me) hear them & click pictures of anything & everything
Here's the LO in soft baby pink with a dash of purple & embellished with all stuff the girls love. The blank space is for the photograph, very difficult to decide which one to use!
Distressed the edge of the 12x12 embossed paper with dusty concord & spun sugar. The corrugated sheet torn from a carton is layered with gesso & added some distress paint for the pink. Had a lot of fun making this LO, but finally I think its a bit too girly. What say?

Linking this to Lets Get Trendy Now!3 - Handmade Embellishments. Can you guess the embellishment I made? The cute little pair of flip - flops!! Started with a sheet of cork I had picked from Itsy Bitsy....................some seed beads & the shiny roses in coral (from a pair of old earrings) & viola............take a look. Also distressed the edges to give it a worn out look. I simply love this & am going to make loads of this for sure.

A Flower Tutorial & Some Wins

Hello everyone!!!
This has been a very pleasing crafty week for me so far with a couple of wins - this altered jar made it to the top 3 at Whoopsi Daisy Challenge & Itsy Bitsy - Pristine Sparkle Challenge, this card made it to the Top 3 at Incy Wincy Challenge & this altered box got a  honorable mention at Crafters Corner Summer Sundae Challenge, aren't these wins enough to be delighted & share with you all!! I also posted a review on Distress Paints for The Craft Shop

This tutorial (my first attempt at making one) I did on special request from dear friend Sunehra..........we are all always learning from her, so was more than happy to do this for her.

This is really a very easy flower to make & I have used it on this & this earlier.

MATERIALS -
1. Paper - any of your choice
2. Scallop circle dies
3. Die cutting machine
4. Mister bottle with water
5. Piercing tool / punch
6. Brad

METHOD -
1. Choose your paper (I have taken two different kinds - a handmade embossed paper & parchment paper).

2. Using the dies cut scallop circles in four sizes as shown from both the papers. So you will have eight in all.

3. Spritz all the scallops with water, scrunch each into a tight ball (while wet).

4. Leave the scrunched scallops to dry or you may use a heat gun.

5. Now carefully open them all.

6. Layer them according to size - alternate layers of both papers (same size)......eight in all.

7. Using a paper piercer/punch make a hole in the center (do not bother to be very precise it does not matter)

8. Insert a brad through the hole & fasten it to the bottom.

9. Carefully separate each layer & scrunching each layer once again.

10. Here is the finished flower - ready to be adorn any project.

RAINBOW MAGIC

Hello Friends!!!
Its the first day of the month...................time for a new challenge at CATCHY CHALLENGES. Many parts of India have already received the first monsoon showers & the climate here in Bangalore is soooooo pleasant now. Its the right time to create magic with the colors of the rainbow. Well its a CATCHY challenge so a twist is a must...............use the VIBGYOR colors as a BG without a rainbow!!! Here is my inspiration for this challenge.

For the background I used a mesh & gently sponged all the seven colors randomly (memento inkpads) to create a colorful pattern, very easy peasy. The gorgeous bloom is from Itsy Bitsy. Do hop over to the challenge blog for amazing ideas by my teamies.
