Altered Chest of Drawers

Hello friends!
I am here with a gorgeous girly altered project I made for my niece.
The 9 drawer chest is from Craftslane. Had a lot of fun with pattern papers  (co-ordinated papers from two packs here - Prima Fairy Rhyme & American Crafts - Lucky Charm).

The little frame here is a Kaisercraft embellishment colored with markers. The vintage image is fussy cut from the Prima - divine collection pack & covered with mod podge dimensional magic to give a faux glass effect.

The glass bottle have a cute lock & key charm set.

The MDF laser cuts on the side panels are colored with markers & heat embossed with clear EP for glossy finish. The key-charms are pretend pulls for the drawers.

Decoupage

Hello bloggers & a happy Monday morning to all.
I have some decoupage to share today.
First up is this tray in bright cheerful colors. Lovely, isn't it!

I love the Royal Rajasthan series of DP by Divya Thallap. This is my second tray in the same design. You must have seen a similar one here. The pearls along the inner edge add so much elegance to this design.

Lastly, I have a box to share. Once again this is my fav DP. I have made an altered hanging keepsake using the same paper here. The edges of the paper distressed using Vintage photo, the bloom is handmade (tattered florals - Tim Holtz alterations).

Monochromatic tag

Good Morning friends.........as promised yesterday here am with another tag. This one is almost entirely done in blue.
Let me briefly take you through the steps -
  • To begin I used TCW - birds of a feather stencil with texture paste (homemade)
to create the base layer, let it dry & then colored over with salty ocean distress paint.
  • Then stamped the script (stampaddicts - pot pourii) in archival black.  Added some crackle paint (rock candy) to the branches. A dash of brown & green highlights the branches.
  • Next to tone down the color I added a layer of watery gesso.............

Look at the awesome texture! Added a bit of shimmer to all the birds with my favorite Wink of Stella glitter brush pen.

The little black butterfly is from shrink plastic!

And the bird charm compliments the theme of the tag, don't you agree?

The cages were highlighted using vintage photo DI.

The maroon bird escaping from the cage is a rub on & I think is perfect to break the monotony of blue in the tag.
Next I splattered run down gesso randomly over the tag.

Tag in a tag

Good Evening!
The current challenge at Beyond Grey Challenges is to make a tag with textures. I surely wanted to play along because I just love textures.

Enjoyed playing along with texture paste (homemade) & Tim Holtz layering stencil (rays) to create the base. Blended distress inks (mustard seed, spiced marmalade, rusty hinge & fired brick) over this several times. I then placed the stencil over the tag again.............this time I placed the design between the textured rays & then misted water to create some more rays! Take a closer look between the textured rays & you will know what I mean. The script was stamped over this diagonally as if emerging from the rays & the sentiment stamped on another cardstock & glued with foam dots. A beach chair charm dangling over the awesome trim coordinates so well with the sentiment. The bottom of the tag with metal corners has a little vellum pocket for another tag which is made from shrink plastic!  You have to see this tag in person to admire the super shimmer of the wink of stella over the textured rays.

I enjoyed making this so much that I have already started with another tag & writing this post while the background dries! So please do stop by again tomorrow.

Teachers Day Cards

Good Morning!
A very happy happy teachers day to all you crafty mommies! After all we are the first teahcers to are kids :-). Thank you all for the appreciation for the teachers day cards I posted here. Well  I had saved my fav collection to share today. CAS is not my style at all & it was rather hard for me to complete all these without distress inks & blooms! Made best use of two paper stacks from DCWV - Education pack & Grade school.
So here goes -

This card is linked here -

The next two cards are almost same. Note how a slight variation in the size of the layers gives a different look. I have been wanting to use a mason jar on a card for long. The school supplies in the vellum jar are stamped & fussy cut. The scale is a washi tape. I love the bright colors & patterns in the apples here.

This one is linked to the challenges below -

In the next one the sentiment was built using a combo of different stamp sets & says it all.

Now won't every chemistry teacher love this! A while back I had seen something like this on pinterest & so wanted to use it on a card. The pattern paper is just perfect for this too!

And finally how about this to delight a geography teacher? The map, the planets...................purrrrrrrfect!!

How I wish I can go back to school either as a student to proudly had over these to my favorite teachers or as a teacher to receive these, what say? After this marathon session of CAS cards & loads of use of pattern paper I must confess that I now am a little comfortable running the scissors through my designer papers.................not to mention that I save the tiniest leftover piece!

Cards for Teachers

Good Morning!
Sharing a couple of cards I made for my daughters' teachers(in India September 5th is celebrated as Teachers Day).  You can view the cards & post it holders I made for them last year here, here & here.
Unlike the ones I made then, this time I decided to play around with some school theme pattern papers & go CAS. This is not my style & will eagerly wait for your feedback friends :-).

In all the below cards I used papers from the DCWV education stack. This is such an apt collection for teachers cards. The busy designs do all the work ;-).
Most of the sentiments are from the Teacher's Pet stamp set from Clearly Besotted.
