Shabby Chic Fridge Magnet

Hello friends!!!
The current challenge at DCAM is Shabby Chic & I decided to try a mixed media project. It surely is not my style but I am loving this first attempt in true shabby chic style, for which I always had a fancy. Gorgeous projects in soft shabby chic colors with lots of layers & textures adorned with embellies dazzled me & I never gathered the courage to try this beautiful style until now. Here's the altered (wooden) fridge magnet -

Lots of products used in the making of this - gesso, Lindy's  Spray, texture paste, pattern paper, embellishments, pearl strings, blooms, etc. Also created loads of layers & textures with lace, paper, stencils, diecuts, etc.

BEST TEACHER

Hello friends!
Back again after a short absence to share a card I made for my daughters teacher.
To create the BG I made swatches of colors with distress ink on the CS, following which I heat embossed the flowers in clear embossing powder & then covered the entire BG with black soot distress ink. This is the result of the amazing resist technique..........very much alike the crayon resisit technique I used in this card HERE.

Wall Hanging Keepsake

A very happy Sunday morning to all!!
Sharing a very special project with you today-a hanging keepsake. My daughter wanted a gift for her bestie on her sixteenth birthday. I have used a MDF wall hanging from kaisercraft as the base, covered it with pattern paper, MDF embellies & blooms(all handmade from various die cuts). Also done a lot of distressing on this. Sorry about the pic quality but these were all taken at night when I just finished working on it.

Heat embossed  a pretty friendship tag in clear powder.

My daughter wanted to paste pictures of all three of them - so here I have left the space blank.

Teachers Day - Post-it holders

Good evening friends!!!
Sharing a few post-it note holders I made this week for my daughters. These simple gifts were made for their  teachers. I have used a lot of colors, die cuts, layering, stamping, distressing, blooms.............& my favorite handmade papers which I have been hoarding for so long!!! I am so glad to use these....finally (hope I am able to do the same with pattern papers, I am just unable to cut those gorgeous beauties)

The first three holders are easel style.

All the others have a provision to hold mini pens.

Also made two cards which you can find here & here.

If you have any queries regarding the supplies/techniques used please leave a comment & I shall reply.

Another Exploding Box

Good Morning Friends.
After seeing the exploding box I made for my niece, my daughter wanted me to make the same for her friend who is leaving India soon for higher studies. I had only a few hours to make this one..............could not even click any pictures!!! All the pics here are courtesy the birthday girl herself. Thank you Harshita for sharing these.

Take a look......

The cake is actually a battery operated tea light covered with washi tape. Though its not very clear over here the flame is a flickering lamp...............looks amazing in real. Wish I had more pictures to show :-(

Squash Book

Hello Crafty Friends!!

My daughter requested me to make a birthday card for her class teacher. This was on behalf of the

entire class of 25. Her basic requirement was a very simple card, so that the boys too can appreciate it & with ample space for all to write a line or two.
After much deliberation, I decided to make a very simple squash book.

I love textures & this handmade paper with a chevron texture is my favorite.

Some clicks of the inside of the card -

Hope the class & the teacher like my first attempt at making a squash book & so do you friends!!

Birthday Party Ensemble

Hey Friends!!!
One of my dear friends recently celebrated her son's second birthday. She was very keen that I make a CUP CAKE THEME center table ensemble for the party. I was more than thrilled to do it, the only hitch was she resides in Singapore!!!! Nonetheless I did  manage to BAKE a crafty cup cake :-) & courier it to her!!!!

This is it................

......................all yummy chocolaty with a cherry  on top too!!!

She also wanted to display a picture of her tiny tot. Here's the decorated frame -

Well I am not too good at making stuff for boys!!! This frame was actually pink.....................covered it with gesso & added a few elements for the texture. Then painted it in white acrylic paint. A shaker birthday sticker & cupcake to blend with the theme, along with his name & '2' for the second birthday completed the frame.

Finally I covered a box with white embossed paper, distressed & added a few rosettes.

This is the complete ensemble.

So glad the entire assembly reached her in perfect shape & she & her family loved it. Besides just creating this, it was wonderful being part of the celebration without attending it!!!

There's a birthday party ensemble challenge going at Moxie Fab World to celebrate the latest special issue, Birthday Creations & I am so happy to link this there and also at -
