My Blogoversary Candy

(This is a sticky post & will remain till the candy closes. Please scroll down for new posts)

My blog completed a year sometime in October but I started posting regularly only in December. So I consider completing one year of blogging now. In fact, I wrote my first post much earlier but it took me several days to actually click the "publish" button and start sharing my work with you. Many of my fellow crafters genuinely inspired me and was in awe of their work (and was regularly visiting many of your blogs even before I started blogging :-)). I started with no fancy tools, punches, embellishments, pattern papers & was not even aware of challenges! The first challenge I entered was Itsy Bitsy. My card was amateurish and yet you all were so nice and welcomed me by visiting my blog and leaving encouraging comments................after several months there is no looking back now.
Blogging has been a very satisfying creative journey so far & I am constantly learning while creating. I have become friends with many of you.................chat with some of you on Facebook or WhatsApp, your blog posts, exchange a mail and have been fortunate to even meet some of you. All you ladies are very special and a huge warm hug to each one of you.
This RAK is a special thank you for your continued support, regular visits, encouragement & also inspiration. I'm grateful for the incredible support from my family and friends too.

Tea light Candle Holders

Hello Friends!!
Sometime back I had ordered a few tea light candle holders from Craftslane. These were perfect diwali gifts for friends. It is also a good way to utilize small pieces of scrap pattern paper. Have used a variety of pattern papers here.

A Tea Light Candle Holder Card with a Tutorial

Hello friends, welcome once again :-).
I am back with another card today & this one is a tea light candle holder card with a tutorial (thanks to the Itsy Bitsy Challenge, let me tell you I really enjoyed compiling this & please excuse me if I have forgotten to capture a few steps).
This card doubles as a box to hold small gifts (chocolates, candies, tea lights) within the card. I have used this tutorial for reference.
Let me first take you through the steps in making this box. I have used another cardstock to show the first two steps because I forgot to take pics!!!!
For my card I have used heavy weight white CS.

Glue one strip to form a box, leaving the smaller sides unglued to insert the candles.

The box & the card both are ready now. You can chose to decorate, embellish as you wish. I chose to heat emboss some flowers & then distress the card & box (used fired brick, barn door & mustard seed inks) as you can see -

Now here is the much awaited part....................the final look. I truly loved the white heat embossed flowers against the red BG.

Some close ups.............

This is the inside of the card...................included a small pocket to hold a tag.

The tag completely co-ordinates with the color scheme & design............lady bud included!!! The tag is distressed with walnut stain & vintage photo inks.

The front & the back of the card.

Also made this card with the Lulupu Challenge#14 in mind & used the colors accordingly.

Two Sunflower Cards

A very good Sunday Morning to all!
Will make a very quick short post for this card which I made for the Lulupu - Lady Stamp-A-Lot Challenge.

I used a BUILD A SUNFLOWER SET from Do Crafts.

In the first card I have heat embossed the sunflower to create a BG on a DP, distressed along all the sides in vintage photo. I also randomly stamped tiny sunflowers in the BG.

The second card too has a sunflower but this one is paper pieced - heat embossed & distressed with mustard seed & spiced marmalade inks. The card stock from Itsy Bitsy is embossed (Itsy Bitsy folder - spots). I loved the outcome of embossing! Added a piece of thai natural fibre, bordered with red raffia & the sunflower...................the solitary sunflower stands so beautifully against the BG.

Handmade Calendar 2013

Hi all,
Am ready to share with you the calendar I made for this month's ICRC25 - New Year (2013) Calendar + Recycle/Upcycle Something.
I have recycled an envelope to create a hanging calendar with the look of a handbag!!
How???…..you will soon see!!!!

This was the envelope used

Changed its appearance by adding handmade paper & chipboard die cut (Itsy Bitsy)

The front - look of a handbag

The other side - a calendar

Each month page can be mounted at a time in the adhesive photo corners. Have also provided a small clip to hold mini to do notes/reminders.

The pocket behind can hold the pages for the remaining months....................

I enjoyed using so many PP & handmade papers in a single project. Have a insatiable weakness for handmade papers............……the colors & textures are just so appealing......................hope you noticed the embossed handmade paper used in the handbag.

All the colorful months -

A closer look at some embellishments

Thanks for taking the time to visit & do let me what you think about this calendar.
Have a wonderful day.
