Decoupage Serviette Holder

Hello Friends!

Decoupage is a very versatile craft & the possibilities it offers is endless. I enjoy giving a makeover to old objects as much as turning new decoupage blanks into unique home decor items.
This is the serviette holder that I have in my post today -

To create the texture I have used FolkArt Home Decor Squeegee/Comb
Let me take you through the steps briefly -
  1. Lightly sand the tissue box. This gives the paint and glue some teething.
  2. Paint the sides with Papericious - Duck Egg chalk paint & the top of the box with white acrylic paint using a sponge brush.
  3. Next add a layer of red acrylic paint on the sides & carefully run the squeegee through it while still wet & you get a beautiful striped texture. Let dry.
  4. Tear the select tissue to size & glue it on the top of the box with Mod Podge Matte. Seal with another layer of Mod Podge.
  5. Follow this with 2-3 layers of varnish. Sand between layers for a smooth finish.

Decoupage Name Plate

Hello Friends!
Sharing today a name plate I recently commissioned. This is a hanging name plate perfect for an apartment/house or villa. I particularly love this design since there's so much opportunity to play around with techniques - different looks on the same name board.

On this side is a bright floral finish with lots of blending & stenciling.

A stencil design very similar to the tissue background made it so easy to bring it all together.

On the other side is a vintage design in contrast to the brights on the other.

This is a close up of the shimmery first names of the Rabadi family against the vintage crackle background.

For the intricate pattern of the hanging frame I tried a faux wrought iron look

A Letter Holder

Sharing my inspiration post for Bob N Betty blog.
Have you seen the new range of decoupage papers? Morning Glory & Knighthood? There are colors & designs for almost all moods…….be it vintage or shabby, browns or blues, brights or pastels!
I particularly loved this set from the Morning Glory collection, bright & yet pleasant soothing colors & the water color like texture lends it such a rich artistic look!

The design has so many layers, colors & textures that I chose to leave this letter holder rather simple.

MDF Decoupage Panel

Hello!
Decoupage is such a versatile art & if you have been following my work you know how passionate I am about this art form. Over the years I have tried a number of techniques & am always looking out for papers & patterns. Today's post is another such experiment, more about it in a bit, first let me share the wall decor panel first -

This watercolor design I have used today is the print of an actual painting done by a talented friend Charu! She is an amazing artist, hop over to her page here! When Charu asked me whether I would like to use her painting for decoupage I was so excited! Thank you dear & hope I have done justice to your work.

Some more close ups of the panel -

Blending the colors  to match the water color background was difficult, but I loved the result.

Along the sides & bottom are tiny cracks.

The quote is stencilled by mixing black acrylic paint & impasto.

Monogram T

Good Morning!
Welcome to my first post of 2017 & wishing you all a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Sharing an altered MDF mixed media monogram letter today.
Once again its a subtle delightful blue.

Let me share the details in the following pictures. After a generous coat of gesso & chalk paint, I added some textures by stencilling texture paste using a Tim Holtz stencil (flourish).

Love the distressed resin frame which actually "created magic" in this project! The handmade flowers are from ITSY BITSY

The coordinating tassel dangles on a pendant & do notice the floating charms in the dome there! Used liquid pearls from Ranger randomly to add some bling.

Some more stenciling using white acrylic paint.

Mini album - I AM

Happy Friday & welcome here again!
Its been a while since I shared a mini album here! I have made many & will share these soon!
This is a trifold mini I made for my daughter. If you love pattern papers like I do (never can have enough!!!) you will enjoy this mini. I have combined papers mainly from 'My Minds Eye - I am' stack & 'Crate Paper - Style Board' by Maggie Holmes
Left the chipboard cover rather simple  & made a belly band closure. This mini measures - 8x41/4"

Both the left & the right sides have pockets for several tags.

The central panel has a waterfall insert & love the coordinated papers I used here!

Watch Box - Decoupage

Good Morning & welcome back!
Its another decoupage share today. This watch box was a gift to a dear friend.
Sometime back I made a wall planter using textures & metallic shades & loved the color. I have used the same color here too.
The newspaper print is a gift wrapping paper I had picked on a trip to Sri Lanka some years ago, yes I am a hoarder! Used the same acrylic paint to add some stencilled patterns on the lid.

Embellished the inside of the lid with MDF alphas & a intricate clock.

Altered Wooden Tray

Good morning peeps!
A dear friend of mine approached me with a beautiful but worn out wooden tray which was very special to her. This is how I salvaged the old tray into a new one!
To begin I smoothened the surface as much as I could using fine grain sand paper & then applied a layer of gesso. I wanted to give it a shabby & distressed look, so used a base coat of gray acrylic color. Once that dried I randomly rubbed the surface with a candle followed by Prima chalk paint. Once the pink dried I used sand paper to distress the color & out popped the gray from beneath!
Random stamping using archival ink completed the transformation! To finish I varnished the tray several times.

The back of the tray -

Closer look at the distressing -

Now can you believe this was the tray that got a makeover!
