Cards - Rinea foil

Hello Friends!
Today I am at the RINEA blog with these two cards.

The first one is a simple word shaker card. For the front card base I have used Glossy Ruby/Gold from the Jewels Foiled Paper Variety Pack

I love the glossy ruby foil peeking in the shaker window! Simple but an absolute classy card!

The second card is in one of my favorite white & silver combo. For this card I die cut a large butterfly in the front panel of the card base. Used  Silver/Silver Glossy Foiled Paper on the backside to cover the window. Also die cut some smaller butterflies to add some dimension. Rinea foil cuts so easily with any standard die. The sentiment is heat embossed.

I also embossed the die cut to pop the wings.

Especially for You - Bleaching Technique

Good Morning! 

Sharing a card today in which I have colored the heat embossed butterfly using the bleaching technique. I also have a tutorial on this, which you can see here. I always loved the pink & kraft combo.........what do you think of the touch of gold!!!

Here is a close up of the butterfly, I achieved the shaded look by controlling the amount of bleach. The diagonal stripes on the side are hand drawn & heat embossed.

Hello & Welcome back!

I started this Christmas  card on a beautiful glitter white card stock. 

Stamped the baubles on white CS, heat embossed (LSG Candy cane red gold) & fussy cut. To add dimension adhered these to the base with foam dots. The faux strings are hand drawn in silver. 

I wish you could see the actual color of these baubles in real!

Canvas Corp Brands - 4x4 Canvas

Hi All!

The Creative Crew at Canvas Corp Brands was challenged to create within a 4x4 canvas  please visit the blog for amazing inspiration by the creative crew ! 

This perhaps is the first time I have worked with raw canvas (CCB canvas is raw & made from 100% cotton fabric). I had fun creating on this as it accepted the mists so evenly…………all the layers were white to begin with............if you read through my post you will know what I mean!!!

Let me briefly give details how I went about creating the layers.

• I started with the raw canvas & used TH burlap stencil & Wendy's embossing paste to create a pattern on it. Let it dry & then sprayed Tattered angels simply sheer - black over it.
• For the next layer I used mistable papers from CCB & these take the sprays so easily, lending very even coverage. I have used - Glimmer mist - red chillies & marmalade here. The paper too was first stenciled to add a texture & pattern. Distressed & curled it randomly to add dimension.
• The heat embossed quote was framed in a resin frame buffed with Inka Gold (the black background here is again the result of Tattered angels simply sheer - black on white mistable paper).
• Finally, to enhance the texture & pattern on the layers I have rubbed Inka Gold & then assembled all the layers using a glue gun.
• Hung a cute little charm on the frame to finish the canvas.

Altered Set of Drawers

Hello friends & welcome to my last post of 2014.

Today it is another altered project I made for a very dear friend, I met after 15 years!

For this decoupage chest of drawers I have used my favorite Java green papers designed by Divya. You can see some other projects using these papers here & here.

 

The edges of the drawer unit & the MDF corner were colored with a red Giotto marker. The corner is also heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

The roses are handmade (spellbinders - create a rose die).

Each drawer also has a faux knob..................the cracked glass effect is the result of clear UTEE!

Creative Colors Challenge#26

Welcome to Creative Colors Challenge#26.............can you believe, this is the last challenge for 2014, where has the year gone by!!! This is the inspiration picture.......perfect for the holiday season.  

We challenge you to use Vintage Green - Deep Red - White PLUS  Glitter in your festive cards.

I have used "cardinal on branch" digi & made a card using the challenge palette - 

Colored the digi with Cretacolors & the background is using distress ink (mowed lawn). The MDF snowflake is heat embossed with WOW glitter embossing powder.

Altered Book Box

Welcome back friends!

Another altered project today - a book box, the first one I made.

When I selected the DCWV Mariposa pattern paper for this box I was totally lost with regards to the embellishments that will go along with this!!!But I challenged myself! And the result............I think is totally adorable!

To highlight the chipboard laser cut from Itsy Bitsy I used white UTEE over it. This also added some dimension to make it stand out amongst the flowers. Used a large vintage key along with some dangling charms as a faux knob.

This is the spine of the book - colored the ornate chipboard letter with marker & embossed using clear EP.

Welcome here again!

Sharing a card  with my first attempt at the die cut inlay technique. 

I have used the whimsy circle die from MB for this. This is a very intricate die & so I used a piece of colored vellum behind the inlaid die cut to add some visual interest. The sentiment (PTI signature greetings) was heat embossed with white EP on the vellum. Tied this to the heart shaped wooden button using silver string. Some faux stitching along the edges resulted in this elegant card.

Coloring with Bleach - A Tutorial

Good Afternoon lovely ladies! 

Sharing the tutorial for a very simple bleaching technique that I did for the Color Conceptions Challenge Blog.  I am sure many of you would have already seen or tried this earlier but for me this was a first attempt & I loved the effect. So sharing a small pictorial with you all.

These are the supplies you will need for this - card stock (darker colors give better results), embossing powder (clear/white/black), stamp, embossing buddy, versmark ink, heat tool, bowl, applicator brush, fabric bleach (I have used Rin fabric bleach. Please make sure you use fresh bleach for best results ).

Heat emboss the image.

Pour a small amount of bleach in the bowl from the bottle.

Apply bleach using a paintbrush to the portion of the embossed image you want. It is magic to see the color change almost immediately!

Continue to add bleach until the entire image is bleached out.

Here are the final images. 

Each color & card type will give varying results. By bleaching we are actually taking away color from the image. See how it reacts with a fuchsia CS. 

Let dry & your image is ready. Use it to make a card, a tag, a bookmark anything you want. 

Here is a completed card in which I have used brown cardstock.

Create Something Catchy Challenge #2

Good Morning Friends & welcome April!!

We are back with a new challenge at Create Something Catchy Challenge #2. Below is the inspiration picture for this month - 

Here is my interpretation of the image - 

• To make this card I first stamped the hearts with the Kaisercraft stamp set using versamark, on white CS.
• Heat embossed the image with super fine clear embossing powder (Ranger). 
• Used a medley of distress ink colors - picked raspberry, dried marigold, squeezed lemonade, mowed lawn & salty ocean over the image.
• Spritzed the inked background with a mister & then used a baby wipe to clear the colors over the image. 
• This was then glued under the negative  heart die cut in the cardstock. I have used foam glue dots to add some depth.

Glitter-n-Glam

Hello!!!!

We have a new challenge at Color Conceptions#7 - Glam with Glitter, do visit the blog to participate. Sharing the card I made in my favorite combo black & white. 

the background here is heat embossed in white using several stamps. The large glittery butterfly is a vellum die cut.  

This small black one is hard to see but in real it has a very subtle shimmer. Used Wink of Stella glitter brush clear over the black die cut.
