Guest Designer @Stamplorations

Hi friends!
Sharing a tag I made as Guest Designer for Stamplorations. This card was selected a top pick at the January Challenge. Stamplorations has an amazing collection of stamps & stencils.

This month the theme is -

And this is the sketch.

You can use either the theme or the sketch for the challenge. For further  details please visit the post here

This is the tag I made -

For the background I used gelatos & randomly stenciled whipped spackle for some texture & added holograhic embossing powder over this for some shimmer. The highlight of the tag is a bold stamped sentiment. However, after coloring (with peerless watercolors) the beautiful digi that Shery sent me I decided to mute the stamped sentiment. So I tore a piece of vellum & glued it over this. Made some score lines on the vellum & added color to the distressed edge for added texture.

Here are some close ups of the tag -

Do you notice the holographic shimmer here!

Stenciled Mandala

Good Morning!
Indian Craft Room has a Tic Tac Toe challenge with a very interesting twist to use a mandala.

I started creating my mandala by using a stencil (MFT Concentric circles) & distress inks to get hennah colors. I then went crazy with all the tiny stamps I had, which were never used! I then die cut the panel with SSS stictched rectangle dies. This is the result of stenciling & stamping.

BEST TEACHER

Hello friends!
Back again after a short absence to share a card I made for my daughters teacher.
To create the BG I made swatches of colors with distress ink on the CS, following which I heat embossed the flowers in clear embossing powder & then covered the entire BG with black soot distress ink. This is the result of the amazing resist technique..........very much alike the crayon resisit technique I used in this card HERE.

ICRC 28

Hello all.
This is the card I made for ICRC28 - a card with a pun/witty sentiment using speech bubbles.
Here's my OWL saying - "You are OWL this & more".
The sentiment is computer generated & the owl is a fussy cut from PP (Papermania - Honey & Hugs) & adorned with googly eyes.

A Rainy Day Layout

Hello peeps!!
Phew!!!! I managed to complete my entry for For The Love of Crafting Challenge#13.
Currently I live in Bangalore but my roots are in Mumbai. Among the many things I so miss about my home town are food & the rains. Yes, it definitely gets rather messy in the monsoons but I enjoyed watching the rains, through my window whether at work or at home. I also miss all the frequent visits with friends to Lonavala in the monsoon. OMG...........am getting very nostalgic, on a hot summer afternoon in Bangalore (please let the pleasant Bangalore climate make a come back!!! ).
As soon as I read the theme season stories, I knew I wanted to make a monsoon card. I have used the layout at ICR - ISC1 Challenge & the color scheme at Itsy Bitsy's Logo Color Challenge.

Here's the outcome -

A close- up of the picket fence blooming with flowers................isn't the rain all about greenery everywhere?? Don't miss the cute little dragon fly & flower buttons. For the base I used a 12x12 embossed paper & also had a punch to match the embossed swirls in the paper.

The sentiment is hand written &  added a  blue heart shaped rhinestone that I found in my stash & a wooden heart. The intent of the tear shaped bling was to depict rain drops (not sure whether I achieved the desired result though!) & used a doily to make an umbrella.

Guest Designer - ICRC27

Hello Friends!
As the title suggests I am sharing with you the cards I made for  ICRC27. I was among the top three at ICRC25 for this calendar & invited to design for the current theme - one layered card + repeated stamping. Super exited as this happens to be my first GD post!!!

In this first card the background is distressed, followed by repeated stamping.

For the second card I first stamped on the CS with Versamark Watermark Ink & then created the background with soft pastels. This gave me the colored images. The images in black were then stamped over the background.

Shoe Shaped Candy Holder with a Mini Easel Card

Hello friends, am back again with a new creation for this months theme......LOVE.
This time I made a very very girly candy box in pink, shaped like a high heel shoe.........yes you read it right a shoe. Used this shoe template, slightly modified the toebox.
This is my candy box.......isn't it all pretty gorgeous in glittery pink? My daughters just cherished this & want a real shoe just like this one!!!!

The heel can hold candies like this...........

I have used parchment paper for the toebox, embellished with a single layered flower & some bling.

Made the insole using double sided PP. Have added a mini easel card, for which I used the other side of the PP. Here's a look at the card.

Looks complicated but trust me its really easy peasy to make.

Handmade Calendar 2013

Hi all,
Am ready to share with you the calendar I made for this month's ICRC25 - New Year (2013) Calendar + Recycle/Upcycle Something.
I have recycled an envelope to create a hanging calendar with the look of a handbag!!
How???…..you will soon see!!!!

This was the envelope used

Changed its appearance by adding handmade paper & chipboard die cut (Itsy Bitsy)

The front - look of a handbag

The other side - a calendar

Each month page can be mounted at a time in the adhesive photo corners. Have also provided a small clip to hold mini to do notes/reminders.

The pocket behind can hold the pages for the remaining months....................

I enjoyed using so many PP & handmade papers in a single project. Have a insatiable weakness for handmade papers............……the colors & textures are just so appealing......................hope you noticed the embossed handmade paper used in the handbag.

All the colorful months -

A closer look at some embellishments

Thanks for taking the time to visit & do let me what you think about this calendar.
Have a wonderful day.
