Monochromatic tag

Good Morning friends.........as promised yesterday here am with another tag. This one is almost entirely done in blue.
Let me briefly take you through the steps -
  • To begin I used TCW - birds of a feather stencil with texture paste (homemade)
to create the base layer, let it dry & then colored over with salty ocean distress paint.
  • Then stamped the script (stampaddicts - pot pourii) in archival black.  Added some crackle paint (rock candy) to the branches. A dash of brown & green highlights the branches.
  • Next to tone down the color I added a layer of watery gesso.............

Look at the awesome texture! Added a bit of shimmer to all the birds with my favorite Wink of Stella glitter brush pen.

The little black butterfly is from shrink plastic!

And the bird charm compliments the theme of the tag, don't you agree?

The cages were highlighted using vintage photo DI.

The maroon bird escaping from the cage is a rub on & I think is perfect to break the monotony of blue in the tag.
Next I splattered run down gesso randomly over the tag.

CreativeColors Challenge#13

Hello everyone...................am so glad you are here again.
Its time for another challenge at Creative Colors & this time we have a very soft soothing color palette - mint green, vanilla & white with the add on being the crafters all time favorite Butterfly.

Once again the winner plays for digis from Lacy Sunshine.

This is the super cute digi I have used for my card - Matilda Buttons Boo

Over to my card then -

The card base is mint green, layered with pattern paper. The  SB decorative labels 1 die cut & the tickets are done in distress paints - mowed lawn & salty ocean.

Matilda was colored with Faber Castell color pencils & fussy cut.

Calendar - 2014

A very Good Morning to all!!
Today I am sharing the calendar I made for round 4 of the Friendship Swap by Riti. This swap required us to following a Lawn Fawn tutorial here for the base.

This is the front flap of the one I made -

Used a lot of pattern papers, distress inks, embellies to make the pages for each month. Basically I have four different layouts (January, May, September are the same & so on..........).
All the pages were stamped with a coordinating pattern & embossed in clear embossing powder. To get the resist look I then distressed over the embossed images.
Inserted a doily (painted with distress paint & edges inked with distress ink) on one side between the card stock layer & the design paper.

The emboss resist pattern is clearly seen here (unlike the above pages :-(.................wish I had pics of all the months to show).

The fence die cut is embossed with red embossing glitter powder & the birdie painted in black distress paint & layered with distress crackle paint (clear) to add some dimension.

Playing this along in the following challenges -
